Hz. Suleyman Park, Diyarbakır Museum And St. George Church

We visited Hz. Suleyman Park in Diyarbakır.

It was named after the son of Khalid b. Walid, the famous Islam commander.

At the entrance of Suleyman Park, on the left side of there, is a tomb the people who died when Muslims conquered Diyarbakir in the 639 years.


The most famous one is Islam commander Khalid b. Velid's son was Hz. Suleyman. The mosque there, therefore It was called the Süleyman Mosque.


It is a sacred place for the local people.

Hz. Suleyman Park is surrounded by Diyarbakır Fortress.


Diyarbakır Fortress was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2015, although it is not known exactly who it was built and when it was built.


The height of the Diyarbakır Fortress is approximately 10–12 meters, and its width is 3-5 meters.


Inside the park, on the left is the Diyarbakır Museum.


Since the Prehistoric Age, the museum has a rich collection of works belonging to Old Bronze, Urartu, Assyrian, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, Akkoyunlu, and Ottoman periods, as well as Amida-printed Artuklu coins and ethnographic works.


In the museum, which hosts many other works, the sections where the works were that due to the epidemic were closed. We just visited the garden and the Saint George Church.


Saint George Church:

St. George Church is a church in the Diyarbakır Museum.

Although it is not known exactly when it is approximately It is thought to have been built in the A.D. 3rd century.

It is also used as an art gallery.
